My current customer is in a real bind. Normally my projects run into at least one show-stopper that causes the whole parade to have to wait in the street, accruing elephant poop and running out of candy to throw.  This project has three of these ongoing. One of the issues is hardware, another is networking related, and another is software. The holy trinity of bugger-ups. A lot of it came from a piece of legacy software that this outfit uses, that almost nobody else bothers with these days. The software is expensive, proprietary, and hard to get ones hands on. It also dosent work through firewalls. I caused a stir when I discovered this, and requested a single port opened in their firewall between the server for this old software and the new machines we are installing. The stir upgraded to a tizzy when the customer discovered they dont actually have a route or wireline network between the two components, let alone a firewall.  Oops.

So I am waiting on new hardware, waiting on some software, and waiting on a network wire-job that may not happen for legal reasons.

Like as not, this means we will make a stop-gap decision and I get to go home for a while, ie the weekend.

Lets see how the day unfolds.
