It is starting to rain.
I have been working on the boat computer, and shopping for boaty bits. So far the boat computer is working alright. The issue was one of voltage - PC104 hardware and USB devices work on 5V, and the boat works on 12. I had purchased a DCDC converter to handle this earlier, but I had bought one that probably had insufficient power handling to manage both the PC and the serial ports and USB wifi adaptors. So I ordered a 30W unit, which should cover everything. Now its all plugged in , aside from the USB adaptor (its raining)
Bought new binoculars too, the old ones were cheap rubberized 20x50s I had picked up in California back in 2000 or so - their alignment was so bad they were useable for some stuff, but useless for distant objects or stargazing. The new Nikon 7x50 have awesome optics and are nitrogen filled so they shouldnt get foggy. Im looking forward to a starry night to check them out for gazing.
I also picked up some runts to lure mon_chou back to Ottawa. Hopefully she will succumb to this lure and return from Australia soon, I miss her.
Tomorrow I go shopping about for an outboard for the dinghy, some new sandals, and probably back to the boat for some more electronics wiring fun.
